There's a new update out. Nothing huge on the user-facing side this time — I focused on smaller things to make production management more efficient across the project tools. Mostly in shot lists and packing lists.
Smarter suggestion logic in shot lists
I’ve basically put together the complete indie filmmaker workflow.
When you create a shot in the shot list, there's an "Optics" section where you set the optical parameters for that shot — which lens you want to shoot it with, whether it's a wide or a close-up, and so on. The app can now suggest focal lengths based on the lenses you've set up in your inventory. So if you've got, say, a set of cinema lenses at 24, 35, 50, and 85mm, you can add them to a shot with a single tap. Zoom lenses work the same way. If you've got a 24–70mm in your inventory, the app will suggest the standard focal lengths within that range — 24, 35, 50, and 70mm.
Improved suggestion logic in packing lists
I expanded the range of gear the app can match up for you. Now, if you add a 35mm shot in the shot list, the app will find the lenses in your inventory and offer them when you're putting together a packing list. It'll also find which cameras can take that lens and offer those too, along with matching batteries, filters, and memory cards. On top of that, it can suggest entire setups, if you've built any. So if you've got, say, a run-and-gun setup that includes a 35mm lens, you'll see it pop up in the suggestions. And finally, I added a basic form of "smart suggestions." The idea is simple: if you frequently add certain items from your inventory together, the app will eventually start suggesting them on its own. For example, if you keep pairing a gimbal with your mirrorless camera, the app will pick up on that and start suggesting the gimbal automatically.
Summary of changes
Improved focal length suggestions in shot lists:
— Added lens suggestions from the inventory, so the app will now offer either your most recently used focal lengths or suggest focal lengths based on the lenses in your inventory.
— Improved suggestions in Gear → Packing Lists:
— The app now offers items from the inventory that are related to the lens and camera used in shot lists. This has been expanded to include batteries, filters, and memory cards. — Smart suggestions for frequently used combinations. If you often add a certain item with a specific camera or lens, the app will start suggesting it to you.
Minor UI and UX tweaks: refined sheets and forms. Fixed several bugs.
